Update Instagram
Meta recently made routine updates to its apps, including Instagram. A few days ago, I accidentally noticed a change: the display of like, comment, and share counts on posts, including Reels, has returned. Previously, Instagram had removed this feature because studies showed that these numbers could have negative effects on users.
These negative effects include users feeling pressured to achieve higher numbers or at least maintain their current average. When interaction numbers drop, users might feel stressed, while high numbers provide a sense of satisfaction or “dopamine.”
Additionally, I’m not sure if this change is part of an A/B test or a major update from Meta. Large companies often conduct A/B testing before rolling out significant updates to their apps.
